High School Information

Students from Rock Lake move on to three separate high schools, Lyman, Lake Mary, and Lake Brantley. Each of these schools have awesome band programs. One of the most amazing things about Seminole County is the camaraderie and spirit of cooperation between band directors at the high school and middle school level. It is not uncommon to see the directors of each of the feeder high schools at our concerts or teaching our children as guest clinicians. We are blessed in Seminole County with dedicated band directors.

The web pages for each high school can be found here. Check them out to find out more about these programs:

Congratulations to the Rock Lake Raider Band on another outstanding Superior performance at the district MPA festival.  We look forward to some of you being in the Lake Mary Band next year, and hope that all of you in the 8th grade will continue to play at whatever high school you attend. There are many more opportunities in high school for you to develop and use your fine talent.

Band Camp - August 4 – 8 (times TBA)
There will be Summer music rehearsals that will be scheduled after the new director is hired. Students should attend these rehearsals when they are in town and not on vacation, at camp, etc.

We have begun the process of selecting a new director for Lake Mary, as Ms. Pattishall will be retiring at the end of the school year. We are excited to begin a new era and hope to have someone in place soon - definitely before the end of the school year.

Those students attending Lake Mary next year still have the opportunity to sign up for the London Trip. Contact Ms. Pattishall if interested. For those students who have already signed up, your next payment is due May 1.

January 2008

Dear Students and Parents:

It is again time for 8th grade students to plan their high school curriculum. As a member of your middle school band program, I hope you will choose to continue your participation in high school. Entering high school and beginning to plan for graduation and your future can be overwhelming and can cause you to question whether or not you have time to be in the band, fulfill all the requirements for graduation and participate in other extra-curricular activities.

The answer to all of these questions is YES! Part of the reason for the success of the Lake Brantley Band is the large number of gifted and honor students in our program. We also have MANY STUDENTS participating in clubs, student government and athletics. On the following pages, you will see some frequently asked questions from most 8th grade students. Read them and then if you have any other questions, please call the L.B.H.S. Band room at 407-320-3460.

The Lake Brantley Band includes over 300 members. The Band consistently receives the highest ratings possible in Marching and Concert festival evaluation assessments. With a comprehensive program which includes 4 band classes, a percussion class, music theory, jazz band, keyboarding (piano) and dance. the Lake Brantley Band program has distinguished itself as one of the finest in the state of Florida

We continue to work and build one of the finest programs of instrumental music in the State of Florida. In order for us to continue our success, we invite you to become members of the Lake Brantley Band program. If you have any questions regarding this upcoming year, please feel free to call me or email us at the web site and numbers listed below.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Berry
